BERNINA Zipper Presser Feet

Today Feet-ucation is for our garment and purse sew-ist. Many of us will see a project with a zipper and immediately say "NOPE." We are going to work smarter and not harder and not be scared of zippers. We just have to choose the correct foot. And again, we can't just have one - we have 6 to choose from. πŸ˜„

Zipper Foot #4/#4D -
Your machine likely came with this presser foot as an accessory. Although it is not a standard accessory in all machines. Its narrow, centrally placed toe allows the foot to get very close to the zipper coils, enabling it to attach to the fabric securely. The result is a perfectly inserted zipper with a consistent stitch pattern. It is multi multi-tasking presser foot too! With its narrow shape is also great for sewing on piping and snap tape, as well as edge stitching. Zipper Foot #4 is suited for both 5.5mm and 9mm machines. If you have a machine with Dual Feed functionality, you can also use Zipper Foot #4D

Zipper Foot with a Guide #14/#14D-
Zipper Feet #14/#14D resembles a standard Zipper Foot #4 but features an added bar across the top of the foot which serves as a guide. The adjustable guide rides right over the coils of the zipper, resulting in a neat and evenly inserted zipper. Zipper Foot with Guide #14 is also helpful when edge stitching since it has a guide to help produce perfectly parallel lines of straight topstitching. Zipper Foot #14 is suited for both 5.5mm and 9mm machines. If you have a machine with Dual Feed functionality, you can also use Zipper Foot #14D

Zipper Foot with Non-Stick Sole #54-
Zipper foot #54 with a non-stick sole is perfect for attaching zippers to β€œsticky” fabrics such as leather, vinyl, or plastic. Just like Zipper Foot #14 /14D, Zipper Foot with Non-Stick Sole #54 features an adjustable guide on the top of the foot. Zipper Foot #54 is suited for both 5.5mm and 9mm machines. There is not a "D" version of this presser foot available.

Invisible Zipper Foot #35-
This foot is the only foot you ever want to use when inserting zippers invisibly into seams. Even if you have never done it before, you will be amazed at how invisible it is! The two diagonal grooves, located in the sole of the foot, accommodate the zipper coils and act as a guide.

As a general note- you MUST move your needle position left or right until you clear the center metal connection and you CANNOT use a straight stitch plate with these presser feet.
